The Design
This design is true to original British Army campaign chests, otherwise known as a military chest. These are the iconic and most commonly sought items of campaign furniture. True to the tradition of British Campaign furniture, this piece consists of two chests of drawers. The original reasoning was that it allowed the campaign chest to be separated for ease of carriage. Also the two halves of two chests could be laid side by side to make a base for a bed! The corners and sides are protected by solid brass imported corner blocks and straps.
Materials and construction.
The African Touch Campaign Chest is beautiful piece of handmade furniture. The drawer boxes, bases and the cabinet backs are crafted from the solid African hardwood. This shows our dedication to bringing you the finest furniture products built from the finest materials! Other furniture makers will build these components from softwood and man-made boards to save on weight, cost and time.
Another alluring feature of our dedication to the finest joinery is that the drawers are all constructed using through dovetail, and sliding dovetail joints. These are the choice of a true craftsman. This is what Fine Woodworking Magazine, America’s foremost magazine in professional woodwork, has to say about dovetail joints: ‘Considered one of the strongest and certainly the most beautiful of joints, the dovetail exacts a stiff price in terms of skill for the strength and good looks it provides. Dovetails are probably the strongest method for joining two pieces of wood, surface to surface, with the grain running in the same direction. The dovetail joint provides considerable mechanical strength because when the joint is assembled, it can’t be twisted or racked. And the shape of the dovetail makes it impossible to take apart in one direction and difficult in the other. This joint stays together — even without glue!’
The drawers run on imported roller bearing slides to give a smooth action. The solid brass handles are true to the Military furniture tradition.

The Campaign Chest is an excellent storage solution for bedrooms, offices, restaurants and lounges. It is a statement piece, so it can be used to enhance the décor and prestige of a room.

Dear Gift
Everything arrived safely yesterday and we are absolutely delighted! Everything is beyond our expectations! We spent 12 hours unpacking and bringing everything into the house, we didn’t realise how heavy teak was! We are so excited for everyone to see such incredible hand-crafted furniture. It’s so difficult to decide which piece is our favourite but the Bridge Side Server probably wins it! It is magnificent and the mirror is perfect with it.
