Last year, Melanie van der Merwe from Women Unleashed Design in Namibia reached out to us to see if we could assist her and her team with some custom furniture pieces for a project they were working on in Namibia. The Women Unleashed team had a client that wanted them to create ‘a unique – high end experience, taking you back into time with absolute luxury – reminding us that life is beautiful’. It needed to be ‘the most beautiful lodge in Namibia with bucket list experience’.
Reminiscent of a by-gone era and enveloped under canvas, the main lodge welcomes you to relish the slow, unhurried pace of life in the wilderness. Thoughtfully designed for lazy afternoon aperitifs or post-safari tipples, the heart of Gmundner lodge is drenched in safari nostalgia, featuring handcrafted campaign furniture and inviting lounge spaces scattered with antique safari curiosities, telescopes and binoculars. Here you can find our customized Roorkhee Campaign Chairs with ‘crazy horse’ tan leather seats and campaign folding tables.
Dining at Gmundner Lodge is purposefully relaxed, allowing guests to relish in the art of slow living. The African Touch Deluxe Director’s Chairs, used here as dining chairs, as well as a Mahogany Hemingway Field Bar look exquisite in their natural setting.
Gmundner Lodge boasts eight single suites sleeping two and four family suites. Set away from the main lodge, the suites reveal a vision of old-world safari splendour cocooned beneath a swath of billowing canvas. Soft leather chairs, rich mahogany campaign furniture, antiques, and artifacts adorn the interior, creating an invitation for leisure and indulgence. Inside the suites you can find The African Touch Namib Desk used as the perfect dressing table, the Kalahari Campaign Desk with Kruger Directors Chair looking out over the Namibian landscape, as well as Campaign Luggage Racks and Campaign Bedside tables. All with beautiful brass corners and fittings for that
