The Material we use.

We love to work with the authentic materials and skills of the golden age of campaign furniture. Veg tanning is the oldest method of tanning still in use, and results in the toughest and stiffest leather, which allows us to mold and shape it to the designs we require without the leather losing its form with time. Vegetable tanning uses organic material and natural tannins derived from the bark and leaves of trees. This results in rich, deep colours in natural earthy tones. The fibres and imperfections of the bovine hide used for the leather are visible, giving it unique authenticity and personality.

We’re combining natural genuine leather with solid hardwood. The hardwood makes up the interior dividing walls and floor of the field bar. Imitations of our leather field bars use cheap stained plywood for these divisions, but we will only use authentic hardwood.

Our design.

Our Leather Field Bars are carefully designed to accommodate most bottle sizes including litre single malt scotch bottles without there being excessive room that will result in bottle knock when transported over rough ground. The Hwange Leather Field Bar has a central larger compartment that can accommodate larger bottles as well as soda cans, etc. We incorporate an African Mahogany cutting board to slice your lemons or prepare the snacks to go with your sundowners. This is conveniently stowed in the field bar to avoid the rattling and accidental release of the chopping boards that are clipped underneath.

Uses of The Hwange Field Bar.

The Hwange Leather Field Bar is perfect for taking on game drives, boat cruises or picnics. Should you require extra glasses these can be arranged. Also ideal to use as a Coffee Station, it is light enough to carry with the pure cotton canvas webbing strap.
