Kalahari Campaign Desk

Design

The Kalahari Campaign Desk evolved out of a need for a smaller version of our highly successful Campaign Officer’s Desk. True to the tradition of Campaign Furniture it disassembles and folds down into a compact box for transportation. Drawers provide good storage space while allowing plenty of room to pull up your chair under the desk. The solid brass fittings and connecting rod add a luxurious finish to this beautiful little desk. A real gem!

Construction

The solid, thick slab of Zambezi Teak is the backbone of this Kalahari Campaign Desk, from which the drawers hang. The drawer cabinet sides are attached using a sliding dovetail joint that imparts tremendous strength and rigidity to the desk. The drawer boxes themselves are built from solid African hardwood also utilising dovetail joints that guarantee the integrity of the construction. They slide smoothly on imported heavy duty roller bearing drawer slides

Material

We offer two exceptionally fine African hardwoods to handcraft our Kalahari Campaign Desks. Zambezi Teak, formerly known as Rhodesian Teak, is one of the hardest and most beautiful timbers you will ever come across. It has a rich red brown colour and varied grain. African Mahogany, traditionally used to build Campaign Furniture, has a more uniform but equally compelling dark brown colour with distinctive striped grain. You may prefer mahogany for true Campaign furniture authenticity! The finish used is a traditional lacquer.

Uses

The Kalahari Campaign Desk is designed for Safari Camp tents. However, the larger Deluxe size will add an exciting talking point and design focus to any office space, be it a prestigious private home or top hotel. We offer excellent discounts for large orders.
