The Design
The Wilderness Chair provides an ideal balance of form and function. We needed a folding chair that is very comfortable and has beautifully sculpted clean lines. The design emphasizes the wonderful rich earthiness of the natural hardwood from which it is created and contrasts with the clean yacht sail rope of the seat and back. It is extraordinarily comfortable and secure to sit in.
Construction
The Wilderness Chair is assembled with large, strong mortice and tenon joints. Its’ sail rope seat and back are then strung very tightly which adds significantly to the strength of the whole chair.
The seat hangs from the back legs with solid brass hinges and rests on a hook carved into the back legs of the chair, making it very secure.
Material
Each of the beautifully curved legs of The Wilderness Chair is cut from a single extra-wide plank of tough African Hardwood. The chair is available either in Zambezi Teak, one of the hardest woods in the world, or African Mahogany.
Uses
This folding lounge chair is perfect as an extra chair or permanent fixture. It is ideally suited to the veranda of your safari lodge or home. Its light and foldable frame can easily be hung or leaned on a wall for convenient storage. The chair has all the elegance of a sculpture with its natural materials, clean sail rope webbing and evident craftsmanship. In short, it beautifully embodies the concept of complex simplicity. A similar chair to the Wilderness chair would be the Planter’s Chair, though it does not fold conveniently as this fine chair does.
