Baobab Boardroom Table

From: R70,560.00

The Baobab Boardroom table is handcrafted from one of the finest of African hardwoods, Zambezi Teak (also still known as Rhodesian Teak).

The massive central pillars are hand-turned. The top is a huge slab of solid teak 50mm (2″) thick. The Baobab is used as a boardroom or conference table, dining table or office table.

The table knocks down into component parts for easy transport and installation. Assembly instructions are supplied.

We only produce a maximum of one Baobab table every month because of the amount of workspace and time required for each (please see Product details below)

Please see more information on our finishes and how to look after them here.

The Design

The Baobab boardroom hardwood table is simply awe inspiring! Indeed, it is named after the most impressive tree in Africa, the Baobab. It is a very heavy piece of equipment. The top is a massive slab of solid hardwood, up to 4 meters (13′) long and 1.2 meters (4′) wide, and up to 50mm (2″) thick, supported on great teak pillars, beams and trusses. The top is ship shape (classic boardroom table shape). The substructure comes disassembled and is very easy to assemble, to allow it to be moved into a room more easily.

Construction and Material

This solid wood boardroom hardwood table is built from one of the hardest, heaviest of African hardwoods, Zambezi Teak (also still known as Rhodesian Teak in some quarters).
Each table is carefully hand built over about 8 weeks. Timber is meticulously selected and matched, before the long process of laminating the top begins. This is done a few timbers at a time to ensure perfect joints that will last for generations. The finishing process is long and painstaking, with the whole structure being hand sanded over a week. All boardroom hardwood tables are made to order, so please allow for this lengthy process. That being said, they are very reasonably priced as we supply direct from the factory, at prices lower than tables made of much inferior man-made boards and veneers.

Uses

The Baobab Boardroom Hardwood Table has been used in a number of applications – as dining tables, office table, reception tables, conference tables and naturally boardroom tables.
Richard Lowe designed the Okavango Leather Carver and Chair specifically for this magnificent table. However, the leather upholstered Safari High Back Chair is also very popular with the table.

To protect your lacquered finish place furniture away from direct sunlight. Apply a good furniture wax or polish, initially twice a month, thereafter once a month. Apply sufficient to thinly cover the surface. As it dries (becomes dull) buff with a clean cloth until a beautiful sheen is achieved. Between waxings, keep the finish clean with a soft cloth or duster, and buff without wax.

1 review for Baobab Boardroom Table

  1. Jacqueline Young

Our Baobab table came all the way to ‘sunny’ Scotland at the beginning of February. It looks absolutely amazing in our dining room, and the best piece of furniture we have ever purchased. The rich colour of the wood is a delight, and the table is a really strong statement in the room. The service from Gift was First Class, and we are really grateful for the excellent communication we received from him from start to finish. A very grateful customer!
