The African Touch Director’s Chair drinks tray is ingenious in its simplicity! Two steel brackets simply click over the rail of the chair to give a secure tray from which to sip your sundowners while on Safari in the African bush. Once you have had your drinks and snacks, simply unclip the tray and fold your Director’s Chair away. We have used these vintage drinks trays on our chairs at home for years. They are as good today as the day we started to use them.
The tray is made from beautiful Zambezi Teak or plantation hardwood. The Plantation Hardwood used is from various eucalyptus species grown in the Eastern Highlands of Zimbabwe. Principally Eucalyptus Grandis and Eucalyptus Cloeziana are used. These are both hardwoods, originally from Australia. However, for sheer hardness, and beautiful grain and colour, Zambezi Teak is very hard to beat! It is harvested from sustainable forests in Western Zimbabwe where two million hectares are controlled by the Forestry Commission of Zimbabwe. These forests are primarily teak and have been controlled sustainably since 1908.
