The Design
The legs of this stylish wrought iron restaurant table are fashioned from solid steel square bar in our factory forge. Topped with beautiful African hardwood, the result is a singularly attractive piece. The hardwood top can be slatted – ideal for outdoor use and for which we would recommend an oil finish. The feet have a leather padding to protect softer floors.
Construction
The base of our wrought iron table is constructed from solid steel square bar. It is heated to red hot in our factory forge before being bent and wrought into shape on specially built steel forms. The individual components are welded together to give an extremely strong and solid table base.
After sanding and thorough cleaning with a degreasing agent the steel is sprayed with a deep etch steel primer. This is followed by two coats of matt black enamel paint for a fine, clean finish. Please note that while this coating gives excellent cover and protection inland, it will eventually wear through on the coast and the steel will start to rust. If you would prefer the rusted look we can leave the steel uncoated. The steel will get that beautiful shipwreck look. The table will last for years as the steel legs are solid and the rust will affect the outer few millimetres, leaving the steel core strong as ever!
The solid African hardwood top is attached to the steel frame with special brackets to allow the top to expand and contract with variations in ambient humidity.
Material
We offer the tops in the finest African hardwoods. Zambezi teak, formerly known as Rhodesian teak, is one of the hardest and most beautiful of hardwoods.
Uses
Clearly ideal as an indoor or outdoor dining table for restaurants, pubs and similar establishments, the wrought iron table has many other uses. They make excellent lamp tables or side tables. Particularly impressive as a pub high table with one of our wrought iron bar stools!
